I often write these posts on Mondays, so I always have to resist the urge to open each one with something like…Ugh, Mondays! It’s just that I really like weekends. And yes, I know everyone loves weekends and so on, but you know. Just because an opinion is commonly held by nearly all of humanity doesn’t make it any less valid.
Maybe I need a nap. You know, it’s weird how at night, the last thing you want to do is go to bed, but during the day, sleeping sounds so compelling. I’ll have to see if I can muddle through with just a coffee. It’s better for productivity.
Every day, I always hope to accomplish more than any human could ever accomplish in one day. I persist in making up these unrealistic to-do lists, even though as I write them, I know perfectly well that I cannot do it all and something will fall through the cracks. The only question is what will fall through the cracks.
It might be exercise today. It’s cold outside. I know technically you can work out inside the house., but it feels more like I’m pretending to exercise for the sake of checking a box. Playing tennis or walking outside feels like I’m doing a real activity, but only when the weather is warm.
The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore is almost completely posted on Kindle Vella. I haven’t been as pleased with Kindle Vella this time around, since it went much better posting Somewhat Alive on Kindle Vella. I’m not sure many people are actually reading on Kindle Vella, for one thing. I’ll have to decide for my third book if it’s worth posting it to Kindle Vella first or if I should just go ahead and publish it for real.
I’m trying to write Somewhat Unreal, the sequel of Somewhat Alive, as fast as I can, while still having it be a quality product, but it’s challenging. It’s my first sequel, and while I know what needs to happen throughout the book, there are lots of details to keep track of for continuity reasons. And I suppose anytime I’m writing the first draft of a book, I sort of doubt whether or not it’s going to come out good enough to be worth editing and publishing.
So far, only Syntarian, my first attempt at novel writing didn’t seem worth the effort to fix up. It’s a YA Fantasy/Romance about centaurs. Parts of it are pretty funny, actually, but it would have taken a lot of rewriting to make it truly good.
Let’s see…in other news, I’m struggling to continue posting on social media. Maybe that’s not really news, since it’s a very common issue with me. I know it’s important and all that. Just…I don’t always have much to say to people. And if I do have something to say, I’d rather say it here or in my books. Where it’s safe. Guess I’ll just keep on trying though. We’ll see.
Also, I’ve decided that Atticus is completely unsuitable as a word processor, so I’ve returned to Scrivener for drafting and using Atticus only for formatting. In a way, it’s annoying, because I’d hoped to simplify the process by not having to upload or export things from one program to another. But in another way, it’s kind of nice, because I paid for both, and it feels good to use things you paid for.
By the way, I don’t like to brag, but I bought a new pair of jeans and they fit me incredibly well and are stretchy and comfy, but stay put where they are supposed to and look amazing. I was going to buy one in every color, but it turned out they only make it in one color, so I only got one. But still. That’s one more pair than I used to have!
Of course, today, I’m wearing soft flared leggings, since it’s Monday and I might take a nap.
