Kate Lexie is the author of Somewhat Alive and The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore. She writes young adult and middle grade books across several genres. Her books always end happily and the dog never dies.

When she is not writing, Kate can often be found playing bass guitar, learning obscure historical facts with which to entertain her loved ones, or pondering the philosophical question of the ages—what is for dinner?

Kate has a BA in History and lives with her husband and two sons in Florida. They seldom visit the beach but often spend way too much time at theme parks. She also has two very impressive cats.

 FAQs about Me

What kind of books do you write?

I aim to write YA/MG books that are highly entertaining, easy-to-read, and leave people feeling good. All my books are fairly wholesome and will never contain any sort of language, adult situations, or sad doggy deaths.

Are feel-good zombie books really a thing?

I believe so, because I have written one! And I’m working on the sequel to Somewhat Alive which I am very excited about. More details coming soon!

Don’t you get tired of going to the same theme parks over and over?

No.

Why don’t you spend more time on social media?

I’d rather spend my time writing. Social media doesn’t come naturally and it bothers me that I can’t control the algorithm or whether people follow me or not. That being said, do follow me on the socials.

Is it true what they say about writers drinking all the coffee?

Yes, we do drink all the coffee. As a matter of fact, I’d like one right now.
