I’m back! Did anyone notice I took the week off? Is anyone curious what I did all week? I hope so, because I’m about to tell you anyway.

I was fortunate enough to spend last week at one of my favorite places on earth—Walt Disney World. I wish I didn’t love it, but I do. We were on a family vacation with lots of extended family, so it was really fun and nice to take a break.

It was our last jaunt over there before our annual passes expire. We made the difficult decision to not renew, which I feel like is a very mature and responsible decision and I only worry a little bit about not being able to get them back if I change my mind.

I do get sick of Disney always charging you more for less. It’s just frustrating after awhile. I also get sick of the way everybody in the world wants to go there, too. It’s not fun when there’s too many people all fighting over the same little scrap of magic. At some point, you just want to step back and be like…you all have fun fighting it out. I don’t even want it anymore.

Maybe a Disney cruise, though. That’s different.

Anyway, it’ll feel good to get back to real life and to get back to writing. And it feels amazing to be typing this with my very own, fully-fixed laptop. I missed it so much. All the keys just feel right underneath my fingers. And even though the computer repair place only fixed the back and the hinge, the whole thing just seems like it’s working better than ever. It’s speedy and responsive and just like new.

I went ahead and started the process for getting my cover for Fiercest Chicken. My cover designers did a fabulous job with Somewhat Alive, so I figured I’d go that route again. There’s something very exciting about publishing a new book. And writing a new book. Really anything but advertising a completed book. That’s not so exciting. But necessary. Probably.

Also, I don’t like to brag, but I’m probably going to cook dinner for us tonight. Yes, I know. It’s impressive. We’ve been eating out all week. All the Disney food was wonderful, but after awhile…it’s just a lot. We went to a lot of great places—Tusker House, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, Space 220, 50s Prime Time Cafe, Sanaa, and ‘Ohana, plus one absolutely awful place—Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

We had actually gone to Hoop Dee Doo Revue when I was a child, and I didn’t remember much from it except that all the actors roaming around and talking at us made me incredibly anxious and uncomfortable, but I told myself that it’d be fine this time, because I was an adult, but I was wrong. It was just was awful as I remembered. Also, they only had a piano and banjo and no bass. You really can’t be taken seriously as a musical show without a bass player. Oh, well. One bad meal out of eight is really pretty good.

I’m often faced with the difficult decision of deciding if I ought to do writing things or laundry. It really shouldn’t be that hard a decision, because once you do the laundry, it’s done. For about a week at any rate. But there’s always more writing to do. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll do some right now.
