Well, it’s been a productive week for me so far. First and most importantly, the dishwasher is officially not leaking, which makes me very happy. It was quite difficult, but we persevered. I mean, technically, the repairman we hired persevered on our behalf, but still. I always hate having people have to come inside my house. I don’t know why. It just makes me feel discomforted.

Plus, depending on the person, it might make my cat anxious, and she doesn’t like that.

But it’s over now, and we can use the dishwasher just like this never happened.

It’s been a big week for me with writing too. I designed the copyright page for Somewhat Alive and am very nearly ready to get going with cover design. I just need to write the back blurb first.

Incidentally, I really hate the word “blurb”. It’s unwieldy and feels awkward. I suppose it’s the perfect word to describe the description on the back cover, because trying to write that also feels unwieldy and awkward.

It’s so hard to find the right balance between giving away too much story and making it sound intriguing and explaining what kind of book it is, but also making people want to read it. I’ve read some really good back cover blurbs, so I kind of know mine isn’t quite good enough, but I’m not sure how to make it any better.

Sometimes it’s tempting to really try to get every single detail of a book correct, which makes the whole process take way too long and feel overly stressful. Unfortunately, I suspect the back cover blurb is probably one of the most important pieces that I should stress over, but I also just don’t find it very interesting or fun.

I think next time, what I’m going to do is write the back cover blurb first and then write the book to match. Get the hard part out of the way early. It just makes sense.

I also started posting The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore on Kindle Vella! The first episode is now up and ready to read!

Today, I’m going to post the second episode of Fiercest Chicken, write the back blurb for Somewhat Alive, revamp my website, and maybe even post something self-promotory on my socials. Also laundry, but that’s not as exciting. Possibly more useful though.

To those of you who may be traveling this week, I wish you lots of adventures and a safe return home. Know that your cat probably misses you, but not that much, because this way she can start moving all her stuff into your rooms.
