Well, it rained. It rained from the moment we checked into our hotel all the up until the moment we dragged ourselves out of Magic Kingdom at one in the morning or so. It literally rained on both our parades and rained while we watched fireworks.
It rained so much they brought out guys with mops and towels to try to dry the stage off enough to make the stage show safe. It was safe enough for them to come out and sing, but nobody was able to actually dance. Although Captain Hook danced anyway. You can’t tell him not to dance. He’s piratey like that.
It rained so long we weren’t able to get Photopass pictures of us in our costumes at all. And that’s a shame because I was dressed as a horrifying, terrible monstrous creature of the night—a butterfly.
I know Disney World cannot control the rain. But we had some other bad luck that they probably could have controlled.
We went on Haunted Mansion to see the ghosts, and the ghosts were not there. We went on Space Mountain to see the overlay with the lights completely off, and the lights for the Peoplemover were on, which kinda ruined the whole effect.
But the worst was really the corn cake. You see, our favorite Disney Youtuber, Drew in the Moment, had really talked up the corn cake from Pecos Bill’s. And it looked amazing and we wanted to try it very badly.
We decided to eat dinner at Pecos Bill’s, so we could get the corn cake immediately afterward. We were told at 5:59 that they wouldn’t sell them until 6:00. We were told at 6:17 that they wouldn’t see them until 7:00. We left Pecos Bill’s and returned around 10:00 for the corn cake and were told they sold out of them at 9:15.
Also, some sort of bug bit me on my knee. I’m not sure what kind, but it’s quite itchy and red and swollen. I’m probably going to have to spend the rest of my life hunting him down for vengeance. Whatever the bug was. (Hopefully not a butterfly because those are too frightening.)
Overall, it was quite a disappointing night.
In other news, I finished editing The Fiercest Chicken and am working on getting it sent out to all my editors/beta readers. I’m also working on writing the sequel to Somewhat Alive. I’m trying to decide on a title for book two. At first, I was thinking Somewhat Real, but I’m planning a full quartet, and books three and four are going to be titled, Somewhat Awake and Somewhat Alone. And so I kind of want that second book to have an “a” word really badly, but so far I haven’t been able to think of any words that fit the meaning of the book nearly as well as Real.
But you never know. As I keep writing it, it may come to me. These things often make themselves known giving enough time.
