Today I posted the last of my Kindle Vella episodes of Somewhat Alive. That means it’s time to go pretty hard on getting my book ready to publish as a Kindle eBook. I’m assuming there’s a lot nuances and things involved that I’m currently unfamiliar with. That’s okay, though. I don’t mind learning.
Speaking of learning, I went ahead and posted my first ever TikTok. It’s not very good, if we’re being honest, but that’s okay. I feel like I already learned a lot about the platform and how to edit the videos and stuff. Also, I was kinda shocked by the TikTok filters. I tapped “retouch”, not knowing what it did, and it made me extra pretty. Which I like, but also…it’s weird seeing me like that.
I also tried out the ginger setting that made me look like Max from Stranger Things and a whole bunch of makeup ones that made me look like I was wearing makeup even though I wasn’t. I often don’t, most days. It just kind of seems pointless, if I’m just spending the day at home with my family. But the filters are strangely compelling.
I always thought I’d feel uncomfortable being on a video, but with those filters, it’s really even like it’s me anymore.
Also, if any of you happen to be young and cool, please explain to me the appeal of the corn filter and the corn sound. I feel like I don’t quite get it, but I want to. Asking for a friend, of course.
If I could post my TikTok again, using the same video footage, I could make it better, but that’s okay. Next time I get video footage of something, I can make something better. And eventually, I can post the same content on TikTok and Instagram and get twice the impact out of every post.
We’re rapidly approaching Lord of the Rings Day, which is only the greatest day of the entire year. I’m brushing up on my hobbit recipes and starting to get organized. You might think it’s easy to cook first breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, supper, etc., but it’s not. It takes a lot of planning and careful timing to make it all come together.
It’d be fun to put in a FAQ in regards to Lord of the Rings Day. We get more questions than you’d think. Maybe next post.
