First of all, you should know that I haven’t yet seen Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. This is the first thing I tell everyone now, because I really don’t want any spoilers going into the movie. I knew about the snap at the end of Infinity War before I saw that and I knew about all the Spidermen in No Way Home before I saw that, but I really don’t want the new Dr. Strange movie to get spoiled.

Perhaps, you’re thinking that if I really don’t want any spoilers, I should just go see the movies in theaters. As people do. And I do see some sense in this, but on the other hand, that’s exactly what they want me to do.

They want me to spend sixty dollars to go sit in a theater for a couple hours and spend even more if I want any snacks. And let’s be honest—I do want snacks. Aside from the cost, in a theater, I cannot pause the movie if I need to, I cannot control the temperature and it’s always freezing in there, and I have to sit upright in those chairs for hours instead of lying on the couch however I want to.

Plus, when you go to the movie theater, you’re opening yourself up to the risk of any type of person who may also be in the theater. You could get stuck with movie talkers, kids who kick the back of your chair nonstop, people with annoying laughs, or people who do not silence their cell phones.

It’s much more comfortable to watch the movies from the comfort of my own home. I had high hopes for the theater industry dying out during the pandemic. I loved everything going straight to streaming.

So if I go see a movie in theaters now…well, it’s like the movie people win. And we cannot let them win.

In terms of writing, I’m planning to release Somewhat Alive on Kindle Vella any second now. Very soon. Or maybe just give it another month or two of research. When do you decide that it’s time to quit researching and planning and just do it already?

I’m probably going to make mistakes whenever I do start releasing my work to the public. But at some point, you just have to go for it, righ?
