We’ve decided to get back into running, which is a shame, because I hate running. I’ve already accepted that in a zombie apocalypse type situation, if it comes down to running, the zombies can just go ahead and eat me. It would be unpleasant, but at least I wouldn’t have to run.

We’re doing the None to Run program. I’ve made it through Workout 2, Week 2. I will admit that I felt a lot more confident about my abilities when we were running for thirty seconds rather than one minute at a time. I also think it’s funny when the app is like, run slowly, because that’s literally the only way I know to run.

We’re hoping to do a Disney World 5K, if we can find one that doesn’t start at five in the morning. I get that the theme parks have to open and all that, but running is bad and five in the morning is bad and you put them both together and it makes this monstrously bad thing.

Our backup plan, if Disney does not offer an evening 5K, is to go on another Disney cruise and run the 5K at Castaway Cay. It can be done anytime, so it eliminates the getting up at five issue. Plus, if we’re being honest, I sort of want to go on another Disney Cruise anyway. It’s magical.

On days when we don’t run, we go to the park and play tennis for thirty minutes. I actually like playing tennis, so that’s a lot easier. I have wondered if my running program is already making me better at tennis. It would make sense, because there is running in tennis, but on the other hand, we’ve only been doing it for a week and a half.

I miss how when I was younger, everything active I did was for fun and not for health. I miss taking dance classes most of all. I know they do have adult dance classes, but…it just doesn’t hit the same somehow. It seems like an extravagant use of money, plus who wants to watch an adult dance recital?

Sometimes it seems sad that as we get older, we forget to do things, just for the joy of doing them. We always have to go and adult things up and take all the fun out of it.

Maybe I’ll buy a surfboard this summer and learn to surf before I get any older. Just for fun.
