Well, we did it. Made it through another Christmas. We were jolly and generous. We ate too much food and baked too many cookies. We survived hearing a million slightly different versions of the same Christmas song. (If I ever hear Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree again, it’ll be too soon.)

And now, we can get back to normal life. I like normal life. I like having time for all the things I like to do. I haven’t been doing much writing or querying or anything like that, really, but I miss it. I’m excited to start having enough time to get back to it again.

One new project that I’m working on is getting my Pinterest account set up and full of content. Mood boards for all my books, books I love, book quotes, plus, if I can swing it, maybe I can even make original pins. My social media expert cousin probably can talk me through it, if it’s not intuitive.

I’ll be setting up links to my Pinterest here, as soon as I have enough content that it seems worthwhile. Though perhaps it’s more realistic to expect traffic to flow from Pinterest to here rather than the other way around. I’m pretty sure no one actually reads this. That’s okay. Like most writers, I can talk to myself a very long time.

Sometimes I think it would make sense to utilize the website more by promoting it across different platforms. My largest following right now is probably Twitter. I could post on Twitter with a link to my blog post, but to what point and purpose?

I believe some of my Twitter writer friends would probably click the link and read it, but does that really help me with my goal of finding an agent for my books? I don’t see how.

As I near completion of my first draft of The Fiercest Chicken in the Bookstore, I find myself asking, is this any good? I have a hard time judging my own writing. And my own bass playing. And my own cooking. Of course, I know I’m a bad painter, so there’s that.

My first novel, Somewhat Alive, I think it’s good. Of course, it’s fully editing and ready to go. It’s probably unwise to compare a finished manuscript to a first draft. It’s probably also unwise to spend more time blogging and pinning and tweeting than actually writing, so I probably should settle in now and actually get some real writing done.
